The 'Ber Months Begin: Fall Light, Fresh Faces & Future Plansw Post

September marks the start of my favorite season—when the air turns crisp, the leaves begin their slow golden fade, and everything feels just a little more nostalgic. And yes, it’s officially the start of the “-ber” months… which means it’s time to start thinking ahead.

Let’s talk about what’s happening at the studio, what’s coming this fall, and how you can make the most of the season.

🍂 Fall Mini Sessions Are Live (and Booking Fast)
This is your official heads-up: fall mini sessions are filling faster than ever. These short, story-packed sessions are perfect for families, couples, or even solo portraits—just enough time to capture your season without the stress of a full shoot.

We’ll be photographing in one of my favorite tree-lined spots with peak colors, warm tones, and just the right amount of crisp fall air.

📆 Session Dates: October 12 + October 19
💰 Investment: $325.00 (includes session + image collection))

📸 New: In-Studio Photography Workshops for Teens & Beginners

As some of you know, I’m now teaching photography in local high schools—and the energy these students bring is incredible. If you’ve got a teen or young adult interested in learning photography hands-on, I’ve opened a few spots for studio-based workshops this fall. These are built around camera basics, creative vision, and practical guidance—no fluff, just real learning in a creative, welcoming space.

If you're part of a homeschool group or would love to set up a private workshop for your child, reach out! I’m happy to create an experience that fits their learning style and goals.

And if you'd like to see photography brought to your child's school, I’d love to connect with their educators. Just shoot me an email—bringing this creative spark into more classrooms is something I'm truly passionate about.

🎄 Yes, We’re Already Talking Holidays
It may only be September, but I’ll be at the Minnesota Christmas Market at Union Depot on November 22! I’ll have limited-edition photo gifts, artwork, and some surprises in store. It’s one of my favorite events of the year, and a great way to support local makers and start holiday shopping early (without the mall chaos).

More details coming soon—but mark your calendars now.

I know—we’re barely into sweater season, but the cozy vibes are coming fast! My holiday mini sessions are in the works, and this year’s theme is something extra special: simple, nostalgic, and heartwarming—with a sprinkle of studio magic.

Details will be released soon, but here’s your friendly nudge to start thinking ahead. These sessions book out fast every year, and once I open the calendar, early birds always get the best time slots.

Stay tuned—I'll be announcing booking info soon, and newsletter readers will get first dibs!

🧣 Seasonal Tip: Keep Fall Photos Natural, Not Staged
A little planning goes a long way to keep your fall session relaxed. Here are three things I always recommend:

  • Layer smart. Flowy cardigans, cozy textures, and warm tones (think rust, forest green, mustard) photograph beautifully.

  • Skip stiff posing. I’ll guide you with movement-based prompts to keep things candid and natural.

  • Prep the kids (and partners). A quick talk before the shoot helps everyone show up feeling more relaxed and engaged.

Need outfit ideas or prep support? Just ask—I’ve got guides for that!
